The ASUNARO Award was established in FY2023, funded by a donation from Dr. Masayuki Sano. The purpose of this award is to invite young pediatric dentists from Korea to visit pediatric dentistry-related institutions in Japan and the ASUNARO Pediatric Dental Clinic (Toyama, Japan) to deepen exchanges between Japan and Korea.

Dr. Wonkyu Shin, a pediatric dentistry resident at Seoul National University, was selected as the first recipient of the award at the KAPD Congress in April 2023. We are pleased to publish his report on his visit to Japan from July 21 to 24 under the guidance of Professor Hong-Keun Hyun, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Seoul National University.

The ASUNARO Award consists of a certificate of recognition in the name of the President of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Dentistry and an additional award (travel and accommodation expenses between Japan and Korea and in Japan). The next award will be presented at the KAPD Congress in April 2024.
